IPv4 Address Format
An IPv4 address consists of four decimal numbers, each ranging from 0 to 255, separated by dots. Example: 192.168.1.1
IPv6 Address Format
An IPv6 address consists of eight groups of four hexadecimal digits, separated by colons. Consecutive groups of zeros may be replaced with ::. Example: 2001:4860:4860::8888
What is an IP Address?
Every device connected to a TCP/IP network is assigned a unique Internet Protocol (IP) address. This address identifies the device on the network and enables communication between hosts.
What is a WAN Address?
A WAN (Wide Area Network) address is the public IP address assigned to your router by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). This is the address visible to the outside world.
What is a LAN Address?
A LAN (Local Area Network) address is the private IP address assigned to your device within your local network, typically in the ranges 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, or 172.16.x.x – 172.31.x.x.
What is ASN?
An Autonomous System Number (ASN) is a unique identifier assigned to a collection of IP networks managed by a single organization, used for routing on the Internet.
